Small and Medium Business Essentials for System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager

This two-day supplemental instructor-led course provides students from Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) the knowledge and skills to install and configure System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager for their environments. This course is offered as a bundle with Course MS10964: Cloud & Datacenter Monitoring with System Center Operations Manager.

For groups that would prefer to use this SMB focused supplement in Course MS10964 class our recommendation is to teach all six modules from the supplement on days 1 and 2 and then continue with MS10964. The following modules from MS10964 would not be taught in this scenario:

  • Install Operations Manager 2012 R2 and configure global and Management Server specific settings
  • Navigate the Operations Manager Console and Web Console
  • Import and export management packs

  • Create Distributed Applications
  • Migrate from Operations Manager 2007 to 2012 R2 Operations Manager

This course is intended for SMB IT Professionals with basic Windows Server, Active Directory and network configuration and management experience.

Before attending this course, students must have:

  • Familiarity with PC hardware and devices
  • Experience supporting Windows-based systems
  • Basic experience authoring and editing batch and script files
  • Experience reviewing Windows application and service logs
  • Experience configuring or supporting distributed application environments
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008 Operating System and network configuration
  • Working Knowledge of Active Directory
